After being a stay at home mom for a decade, I decided to return to work and explored a new career. My friend recommended me to Portnov Computer School after her success in her new career in SQA. I took the courage to go for it despite my old age and commitment to my family. After all the perseverance and encouragement, I did it.

I honestly had a great time learning at Portnov. The teachers (Janna, Olga, Tanya, Galina and Sofia) are all wonderful and full of passion. They not only gave us extra classes to complete the course but also gave me one-on-one attention from their personal time. They not only taught me the technical skills that are needed to be a SQA Engineer, they also taught me how to ace the interview.

I also wanted to thank Sofia Pravdina who helped me with job placement. Right after the SQA course, I was given multiple internships/projects where I could work in a company to gain real working experience.

Last but not least, I want to thank Mikhail Portnov. He gave me personal attention on how to improve my resume and jobsite profile. He even gave me good advice when I had multiple offers.

I highly recommend Portnov Computer school to my friends. Everyone there is so supportive and they have lots of resources for me to further my skills too. I will never stop learning and I am going to take an advanced course (in Test Automation) there.

Looking back now, the decision to change a career and the fact that I chose Portnov Computer School for that is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.

Deciding to change a career and start a path in a completely new industry was one of the hardest decisions that I made and to say that I was not skeptical at first would be a lie. Like anyone who has been working in a different profession and jumping into a new path, I had so many doubts, so many questions, would I understand it? Would I ever be successful? Would I get a job? … a lot of questions.

Looking back now, the decision to change a career and the fact that I chose Portnov Computer School for that is one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. This school has changed my family’s life to the better. My sister studied here 5 years ago, and she is currently a senior QA engineer in a big company in the Bay area.

Up to date curriculum, flexible schedule, incredibly supportive and talented teachers, information on current market trends, guidance and follow up until you land a job is only a few of the reasons why I feel so strongly about this school. Every single one of the teachers here are skilled and know their stuff incredibly very well. I would like to thank Janna, Olga, Tanya and Sofia for supporting me through this Journey. Portnov school played a major role in my career change goal. I not only enjoyed learning software testing basics here but was also able to enrich my knowledge through one of the internship programs. The internship program introduced me to a real world software testing field, where we operated in an Agile/Scrum work environment, performed different types of testing, and used various testing tools (including a test automation tool). Another huge advantage of doing the internship was our job interview practice!
Keep in mind, the school will definitely equip you with all necessary knowledge and required practice in the Quality Assurance field, however, what will get you the actual job is going to be your efforts and determination.

I started studying at Portnov School because three of my friends recommended it to me, and now, when I graduated and found a job, I will recommend it to my other friends too! I actually already have some friends who are studying or just graduated as I did.
When I was studying at Portnov School I regretted starting it, because often there were times when I had difficulties understanding some things (especially Java) or just finding enough time to complete homework and catch up with others. Now, when I got 2 job offers (and lots of final interviews canceled because of already having 2 great offers), there is only 1 thing I regret: I regret that I hadn’t started studying much sooner! 95% of all questions that I got on interviews were discussed during our classes and internship so I was very well prepared to answer them, thanks to our teachers. I really appreciate the hard work of all the teachers! I got lots of phone calls from recruiters because my job market resume from the school was very well polished! I am excited to start my job soon and I highly recommend taking this course ASAP if you want to change your life and get a better job!
